NHS/Malaria/Dose of the Clap

Dont know if im posting this in the right place but Im fuming! Going to Kenya and need some malaria tablets, malaria tablets that ive taken before are Doxycycline which is also prescribed for a dose of the clap. The NHS have now decided that this is not available on prescription to prevent Malaria.

So just to get it straight in my own mind, I can go out, have sex with any geezer that comes along, catch a dose of the clap and have the tablets on prescription, OR I can be responsible, pay for a private prescription (anything up to £15 dependent on postcode Doctor), spend up to another £50 for the tablets to stop catching malaria OR I can go on holiday, not bother with spending up to £65, catch malaria, come home and cost the NHS a fortune in treatment!

Where's the logic in that!!!!!!!

Joanne, bet you just love this one:

£50,000 a week for NHS cash cure
A foundation hospital trust with financial problems has been charged £50,000 a week by American experts employed to show them how to save money.

I think you'll find the reason they are not commonly used as an anti malaria drug is that there are better preparations on the matket which are better and available on the NHS.

Get the telephone number of your local Primary Care Trust (PCT) and ask to speak to their prescribing advisor, you'll probably have to wait a few days as the PCTs are huge and people like the prescribing advisors tend to travel around and not work in an office. The advisor can give you details of the current anti malaria treatments that are available to you locally on the NHS.
