Christmas temp job @ boots assessment

Hi all !

Ive got an assessment at boots on friday morning. I applied online and they got back to me today about the assessment. Last monday i started a training e2e program which leads to apprentaship, job or college. And i was looking for job or apprentaship. So im thinking im going to quit that for the christmas job if i get it?!

And i just booked the day, and time i wanted to go. However i am a bit confused as it says this

Date: 24 Oct 2008
Start Time: 10:30
End Time: 11:00
Interviewer:

Would it be ok if i went to a sales assistant or asked someone who works there? As i have no clue .

Also it says proof of working in the UK. Im guessing thats birth certificate and national insurance. It also says smart dress which i am guessing is the usual black trousers, white top.

So what i was wondering is any interview tips please?! I have been doing nothing for a year which is not good but i have been looking. I was going to say (if they ask) i did not know what i wanted to do since leaving school but i have been applying for jobs. No joy though!

It does not say anything about my grades. Should i take proof of my grades? And last but not least any interview tips please :D thank you x x

I also have an interview for Boots in Cardiff this Friday. I already work for Tesco and have had a few other retail jobs. An Interview for a retail job is generally just a talk. Good luck with it anyway!

I worked for them a few Christmases ago. Bear in mind that they can cut your contract short with no notice as it's a temp job. (At the store I was at, they dumped everyone on temp contracts the day before Xmas Eve instead of keeping us through the sales period). The interview though was surprisingly "involved" - I had only applied for an evening shelf stacking position but as well as a short interview, I had to do a "role play" of serving a customer and then we walked around the store and I was supposed to comment on what I saw (notice any untidy/empty bits, comment on the layout, etc). Don't worry, it's a piece of cake really - just didn't want you to be as surprised as I was!

  • I had an interveiw with Boots yesterday , it lasts about half an hour. You will be asked a few questions such as .... Why do you want to work for Boots? , What can you bring to the job? What do you know about Boots? .

I gained alot of my answers from the Boots website where it tells you about the company how it started out and what their aims are. You then get taken to the shop floor to do sum tests ( It sounds alot more horrible than it is ).

First of all i was asked to walk around the store and ask customers if they would like a basket , then asked to hand out advantage cards leaflets but everyone had one. Its a good idea to read up about the advantage card online so you can impress her with your knowledge. I then packed customers bags which lasted 2mins. Each task doesnt last long and is over pretty quick. I then was taken to an aisle and how i could improve this .....some of my answers were tidy it and put stock in correct places as it was very messy. Make sure shelves were full of stock and presentable for customers. If we did not have stock left in an item place a sign up explaining out of stock. Make sure there is no gaps on shelves and promote 3 for 2 offers etc for customers to see.I then got asked to find a the cheapest semi-permanant hair dye which was a boots own make and was on special offer so i told her about the deal.

My interveiw lasted 2omins and i got the job she said i was very good and couldnt beleive i had no retail experience :rotfl:.

Also i looked around the store before my interveiw made my self aware of where things were , what that store had on offer , where the tills are , and lote of people got asked for the cheapest paracetamal which is btw 16p.
When asked if i have retail experience i said no but gave lots of other answers so she knew i could do it , seemed to work.

I hope i have helped and if you need any more help get in touch x:money:
