I Have only been with BT in this house since june, I was charged the full £105.00 connection (new property), also have broadband and home phone.
Since OH got made redundent i called BT to see if i could chop my bill anyway at all, but they said my home phone was 12 months and my Broadband was for 18 months.
Does anybody know of any clause ? that i could use to get out of these.... I arranged to pay £60.00 per month, which i have been doing, but today they have informed me that they have upted it to £114.00 (Gulp) per month
Any suggestions
Thanks

This bill is not £65.04 per month for rental charges. You need to look closely at the dates.
This invoice is a quarterly invoice.
It is covering your line rental and free evening and weekend calls from the 1st of October to the 31st of December at a cost of £14.45 per month. You're then getting £2.70 a month deducted for a free evening and weekend call offer.
It covers your broadband from the 29th of August to the 31st of December at a rate of £15.99 per month.
This brings your monthly rental charges total to £27.74.
What I suspect the issue here is that you are on BT's Monthly Payment Plan. You get a quarterly invoice and make monthly payments towards it. The system only works if you make the payments in advance however. Eg, the system knows you use £27.74 in rental charges and maybe £12.26 in calls so it charges you £30 per month in advance of your bill coming out to cover it. It's more similar to setting aside £30 a month in a drawer and then when your quarterly BT bill comes out you take the £90 you've saved over the quarter and use that towards it, rather than getting the bill through and being allowed to pay it off at £30 a month. It's in advance of, not in response to. If you haven't paid any monthly payments towards your bill because you just set it up perhaps then the system will see in order to cover your NEXT bill and THIS bill by the time your next bill comes out it needs to charge you something huge like £114 per month. What you'd be best doing is either A) Opting for Whole Bill Monthly Direct Debit, which puts you on a monthly invoice and takes the exact amount of the invoice, like I do. However this would require you pay the outstanding balance in 10 working days from the changeover (automatically of course) Phoning BT and requesting you make an one off payment towards your Monthly Payment Plan balance to lower the monthly amounts for the future. At paying £114 a month you would surely cover your bills very quick and after a few months you could drop it down just to cover actual costs.
Hope this helps.0
