Haven't really managed to get into aldi at all,so looking for tips.I love lidls cheap veg but find it doesn't last).Their vanilla ice cream with real vanilla specks in is yum. They do a range of lower calorie foods and lower fat mozzerella.Their shower gel is something like 13p a bottle.Aldi seems to have a fancier looking bread dept but thats all i have noticed. There have been some threads about difficulty getting refunds on faulty electrical goods at either of these-not sure I would purchase these from these shops.
  • The story I was told behind Aldi and Lidl is they are brothers who are competing to have the best stores I am not sure how true this is but makes sense if so as the stores are very similar and their prices are great.

Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:

Personally i find Aldi better, the quality of the goods is generally better, as are the offers that they have instore, although Lidl is catching up with the offers.
I always make a special journey if i am going anywhere near Aldi, wheras Lidl is local i dont really bother.

It's not true. Aldi is run by two brothers, the company being split into two parts (Aldi North & Aldi South) each run by one of the brothers. Lidl is a completely separate company.
