Bradford & Bingley E Saver 3 funds transfer query

When I went through the process of opening the account online last Thursday 16th, I typed £100.00 on the form as the opening amount to transfer from my linked current account.
I was surprised that it said that it would not be transferred, or transaction started, not sure which, until 27th October.
I have now just logged on and as a test, arranged a transfer of £50.00. The first date it would accept was 24th October.
Now is the 24th to be the start of the transaction process or is the process started today and will be completed by 24th?
Can anyone with one of these accounts please enlighten me as to the timescales involved?

When I transfer from my current account to say, Norwich & Peterborough, a transaction requested Monday arrives at it’s destination by Thursday latest.

Never come across and account where I have to request the receiving bank to action the transfer request from the sending Bank/BS.

Thank you, I had skimmed over that thread but missed some info. Note to self...read more slowly, don't speed read!

I still don't understand why the first available date for transfer is the 24th unless this is the day the funds will be in the E-Saver 3.

It surely shouldn't take five days, as in your post on the thread in the quote.

If the first available date is the 24th then that is the day the funds will leave your linked account and, because they are transferred by Direct Debit, the day they will be credited to your E-Saver.

You won't have to request your sending back to make the £100 transfer. That will happen when they said it will. But you will, as you have found, be able to make a transfer (your £50) before the "opening" amount. I found I could. Just looking back, I asked that £10 be my opening amount which occured 11/08/08, but I was abl;e to make a trial transfer of £25 that happened 07/08/08. Wierd innit. They all seem to have their little
    idiosyncrasies.

    Thank you for that savetilibleed.

    Weird system for sure.
