In reply to the Lloyd's ten's machine, yes they do work, but not on joint pain, only on muscle pain ( from experience ) you cannot put it on spine, neck, etc.so may not help arthur of the spine.Yes if in any doubt ask gp, or chemist. Our physio's in this area didn't know as much as local chemist.

a TENS machine is supposed to have a pad on the spine, though some places do say otherwise, I'll try to find the literature that my physio gave me online. Admittdely I had been told to put electrodes on the affected area, and it did nothing - my current physio told me to put one one the spine and one near the spine, at specific places on the spine, and that does work. If it's on the affected area it will only work on muscle pain.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

I got my tens machine through the Pain Management clinic at the hospital.
Unfortunatly I found it didn't work very well for me, infact it made me ache.
I was told from the professionals that it is supposed to make your brain think of the tens machine instead of the pain. I know it works for some people, just not for everyone.

I found mine to be very helpful; unfortunately, I can no longer reach round to place the pads, have to wait for my hubby to be around to do it for me.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • They have their uses Lamewolf!!! Mine bought me a big massage thingie from Aldi last year, verrrry nice but it weighs a ton...
  • I got my tens machine through the phisio at the local hospital.
Unfortunatly I found it didn't work for me and my joint problems and arthritis and my osteopath says I'm the wrong kind of patient for it. I was also told my the hosp professionals that it is supposed to make your brain think of the tens machine instead of the pain. Fozen peas work better for me because they cool the inflammation. I too have cut down on the anti inflammatories because they have such a negative effect on other things after a couple of years on them.
