Guardsman / Valspar Uk claim problem.

Currently having a problem with my furniture claim with Guardsman / Valspar UK. Having had my sofa assesed by them for a small burn mark in the spring, I was told that the company that originally made the sofa had ceased trading and it could not be repaired. The sofa is currently still being sold at MFI, and having enquired i was told that the model was such a good seller that they have another company making it to the exact same specifications.

I requested that model from Valspar as a direct replacement back in May and was told it would take approximately 2 months. Two months came and went, so i chased it up and was told it would arrive at the end of August. To cut a long story short I am still waiting, I recieved a letter this morning saying the sofa had been further delayed to the end of Novemeber, after being promised it would be here next week. They have even started putting 'without prejudice' on the headers of letters now. Am getting thoroughly fed up. I have been told at my local MFI that i could have the item delivered in 4 to 6 weeks through them.

Are insurance companies covered by the same distance selling regulations as normal mail order/internet companies? So that if the item isn't delivered on time, the amount can be claimed back from the company to purchase the item elsewhere.
