Any heating experts around please..Heatings gone off again !!
Hi,
My gas boiler keeps breaking down , stating error message F72.
Its a Vaillant , and less than a year old. Im being told there is nothing wrong with it, but this is the 4th time in 11 months, and I dont have any heating or hot water right now.
Does anyone have any advice before we all freeze !!
Thank you
Mandi

An F72 error code indicates a flow and/or return temperature sensor fault.
It's cutting out because it thinks that the temperature difference between flow temperature and the return temperature is too great."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

The boiler will still be under Vaillant's warranty, so have you called them out yet?0

Yes just waiting for a return call Corby. Its just that last time the came out ( just 5 weeks ago ) they reset it , and it was fine until today . Whats concerning me, is that this is the 4th time, in less than a year. If they reset it , like last time , it likely that its going to happen again .
If im honest the whole thing was a saga last year . They drilled through electrics, didnt commision it properly, and even fitted the flue upside down .0 -
Basically it means that boiler's sensor thinks the water leaving the boiler is too hot.
This could be because there is a blockage in the boiler or the pipes meaning that the water is taking too long to leave the heat exchange. Or it could just mean that the sensor that measures the temperature of the water leaving the boiler is broken and is giving a false reading.
We had the latter problem with our Glowworm boiler about 18 months after it was installed. It's about a £10 part and 20 minutes work to fix, if memory serves, although it ought to be covered by the warranty if you can get one of their engineers to come and do it.
EDIT: just read your post above. If there was such a mess of commissioning the system, it could easily be that they left all sorts of clag in the pipes, like bits of solder or other rubbish, one of which may now be blocking a pipe. This would be cured by a powerflush, which should push the rubbish out of the pipes. That's not a cheap procedure but arguably you shouldn't be paying to get their rubbish out of your system!0
