I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and broke up with the dad at the beginning because he wouldnt get a job and couldnt provide, basically USELESS! I work(ed) 30 hours a week at work and have just started my maternity leave, I am receiving SMP from my employer. I still live at home and I dont claim anything, I am 20 years old and wondering if there is anything I can claim to help me out. I havent received anything off the dad and I wont be in future. Ive done abit of research and it seems you only get help if you dont work, surely this cant be true... im struggling... HELP!!!

If you are living at home, SMP should be plenty for the basics. Did you not think of the finances before deciding to become a parent?
Once the baby is born, you'll get family allowance and CTC, possibly WTC dependent upon salary.0 -
Why won't you be getting anything off the baby's dad? He is legally obliged to pay maintenance for his child!Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Everything (CTC etc) kicks in when the baby is born, not before. At that point you may be entitled to a maternity grant (if you get more than the basic rate of child tax credit - I would say if you only work 30 hours a week you'll likely get it)
At that point you should also receive maintence off the father, if he's on benefits it may only be £5 a week but it's his child and not helping shouldn't be an option0 -
Sounds as if you will be entitled to the £500 grant, is it the Sure Start? Nothing much else will kick in until the child is born.0
