Identification for married ladies

My partner is a non taxpayer so our savings are in her name. (Oh how I hope she never leaves me!) Although she has numerous attributes, she'd be the first to admit that financial matters are not her strong point. Yes the proof of identity process is tiresome, but it's the speaking in a high pitched voice, pretending to be her when telephoning banking, that I find most difficult!
It always reminds me of the "Oh I'm a lady" sketch on Little Britain

Speaking on this subject as a bloke, I'm having the same problems with ID to prove name.
The only valid name proofs I have are too precious for me to part with in the post (old driving licence & passport). While you can get a photocopy and have it checked and signed by certain officials, I'm sure it will cost and it certainly is inconvenient. Up to date tax codings I don't seem to receive anymore. Why I can't use one from a previous year I'm not sure, I'm still the same person, same NI number, same address, paying taxes just like last year.
I think I'm going to be confined to having to open an account with a local bank or building society.0 -

I found it hard trying to speak in a deep voice, when our broadband played up. When we were with Orange, they would only speak to him!
Trouble is, he was at work and I was the one at home wrestling with the darn modem and connection.0 -

This thread isn't about what I thought it was going to be about.0

I think the usual requirement is for one item to have the address on, and the other to have a photo on. So the new style driving licence satisfies both criteria, but it can only be used for one, or the other.
eg if you supply a passport and new driving licence, then the passport satisfies the photo criterion, and the licence satisfies the address criterion. So equally you could use an old licence instead.
But if you supplied a driving licence and utility bill, the licence would need to be a new style one, for the photo criterion, and the bill would satisfy the address criterion. An old style licence would be no good in this scenario.
I only have an old style driving licence so I ensure I keep my passport up to date - not because I intend to go abroad any time soon, but so it can satisfy the photo-criterion for any ID check.
I for one would welcome the ID card. Hmmm... maybe I'm the only one ;-)0 -
Use a tax code notice, or a credit card statement, or a bank statement.
Shame on any married woman these days who doesn't receive at least one piece of paper from a 'trusted' authority that carries her name!0 -
Child benefit statement or tax credits statement will do. Anything official from the govt.0

Tax office has a policy of not sending out tax code notices to me because my circumstances don't change each year. Credit card, gone green - online statement. Bank - on-line - no statements.
