Hello
I have just been on the easyjet website, to try and book a flight from Edinburgh to Dortmund in Germany - and it appears that I can't book a flight after 26th October 2008 - It would appear that this will no longer be a route served by easyjet after this date. But i cannot find anything on their website with any further detail. Does anybody know anything about this?
thanks

They rarely talk about route suspensions, routes are either new or increased frequencies, I think they call it marketing. Dortmund is being de-based, they won't have aircraft based there, some flights will be operated by Luton based aircraft and crew on a W pattern, I don't think EDInburgh will be one of them.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

thanks richardw, what do you mean by a W pattern?0

I've had exactly the same problem on the the LuToN - AMSterdam route. After 2 years of flying very regularly on the same evening flight they have removed it for sale from the website from November. No warning, and when I called to enquire all I got was an "operational reasons" response aka "no longer profitable". Its still showing on the timetable though.0

A W pattern is like flying LTN-DTM-ALC-DTM-LTNPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

how true richardw, the bad news gets well hidden on routes getting dropped and with ryanair too.
thats one thing ex pat, second home owners should be aware of, routes get dropped if they dont pay, or another route is more profitable, i personally wouldn't buy or live abroad without being near a major international airport0 -
It's not just easyJet. Airlines are quietly pulling routes or reducing frequencies left right and centre to cope with a drop in demand. Out of three trips I currently have in the diary, two airlines have contacted me in the past month to tell me of cancelled flights.
Some airlines (eg BMI) are using smaller aircraft where possible to keep frequencies up, but that can only go so far. Ultimately they have to stay in business, even if that means inconveniencing a few passengers.0 -
Yes, sure.
I'm sure people would rather they managed their businesses properly in an orderly fashion rather than shut down completely with no notice.
I must admint these days that I'm enquiring about cancellation policies and booking on credit cards these days.
I have a trip booked in April but I've made sure the hotel and car hire are cancelable in case I can't get there as you aren't sometimes covered for consequential loss by either credit cards or travel insuracne.
Just the way things are at the moment.0 -
I was reading something about this yesterday but I can't find a link (must be on my other computer).
They are dropping quite a few.
Ryanair are taking 20 planes out of service too.0 -
The summer season for airlines officially ends 26OCT. What you might find is that the route comes back for the summer season which starts end March. It may be that EDI works OK from Dortmund due to German golfers but the demand for that is higher in summer than winter.
Ryanair have EDI to Weeze, is that any good for you ?0
