help with pine dining table

i have this dining table http://www.walmsleyfurnishing.com/product.php?product=40
but it is no longer this colour as with 3 children and messy tea times it has faded,and i would like to go darker with it.
what do i use to give it a modern finish?varnish is quite dated isnt it?
what could i use thats best?

you could try waxing..
or get a clear varnish use a cloth and apply one coat let it dry then another etc etc untill you get the shade you want.....
stain is permanantso if in 10 years time you wan tgo lighter varnish can be removed ( with elbow grease) but stain can not..THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0
