acer connection problems

Hi i bought a new acer aspire 5920 laptop, running vista premium last week..

out of the box the laptop just connected to a wireless network instantly (not too sure how, but been advised its probably somebody's else unsecure network?)

as my parents are using the laptop i thought it was no harm to keep using the internet connection (as they are just learning how to use a computer, they wont be going on any dodgy sites) plus it saved me the time of getting a wireless router etc etc

i ran mcafee (pre-installed) last night just to make sure verything was ok...

but now it wont connect to the internet again, the laptop finds the wireless network, and says its connected (says signal is good or fair) etc

but the "acer e managment" software does not connect to the network its found?

its wierd becuase one icon says its connected and the other says its not?

any idea's what i can do?

thanks

Using somebody else's connection is theft.
Yes, you can start paying for your own internet service.

im not trying to steal their connection!

the laptop just searched for any open network and connected?!

but the network is coming up as "unsecured" so what else could it be?

Well if your looking for help to connect to someone elses network, I doubt youll find help on this forum. And in fact, wether you think it or not, you ARE stealing their connection! Its akin to someone on my street stealing my dustbin. They probably think its the councils so are entitled to it, when I find em ill change their minds for em ;)
Anyways ~ my first guess would be that theyve possibly blocked the mac code/ ip of the laptop (Though I doubt that as surely they would have made the line secure first?)

    fair enough

but im happy enough to make my home network wireless so the laptop can connect

i just wanted to ask why it wouldnt work anymore

    end of the day......

internet is fast and cheap all over, its hardly worth me trying to steal their connection, i jsut wondered why it went off!!
