I actually found out in feb and reported him back then, i checked up on the situation recently as we have not been able to afford to move until now. I was just seeing if anyone had some more advice on here.

An employee from the company who own the freehold turned up one day saying they need to check the windows as a lot of the windows on the development hadn't been properly sealed. He said to my partner are you Mr ****, to which he said no, we rent this flat off him. It was then all this stuff started and the freeholders told us to get out of the property, etc.

And as for those people who think it is a personal vendettor, not that i need to justify myself, when i found out we had to vacate the property we had only moved in about 2 and a half months before and my daughter was only 8 weeks old. We moved into the flat when I was heavily pregnant and planned to stay here for a few years until we had saved enough money for a deposit to buy. The guy we rent off knew all this and he still rented the place to us, knowing that if he got found out we would be made to move out.
So I was, and still am, pretty damn angry at the guy for making the first few months with my first baby filled with worry that we would be forced out of our home.
Oh, and the fact that he is a police officer means that he should know better!

Go to the local paper a police office breaking the terms of the lease to allow a heavily pregnant women to be evicted from it - your local paper will pull him apart! It will also then become common knowledge that that building cannot be rented so he will lose the ability to rent it out to anyone local.

I've bought a flat and the lease is huge, badly photocopied and confusing but I read it at least 3 times until I was satisfied that I understood my committments, I know I can't put any signs in the windows, have a pet other than a caged bird and countless other stuff. Not reading the lease is not an excuse.

If your LL is letting a flat he should not then go public. Glad you've found somewhere else though and hope you get a bit of stress free time now.
