Washing machine leak saga continues...

My washing machine has been leaking on and off since January. I called someone out who cleared the outlet pipe as it had become clogged because it had a u-bend in it. However this does not appear to have been the cause of the leak as it has continued.

I have noticed that it leaks when it first takes in water. I came to the conclusion that the tablets I was using were blocking the flow of water. So I have been dissolving the tablets before putting them in the soap dispenser which seemed to solve the problem. However this morning my washing machine leaked again, even though I had dissolved the tablets.

The interested part (and the bit that puzzles me) is that if I pause the machine to stop the leak and clean up the pool of water and then restart it, it does not continue to leak. It appears to be leaking about an inch or two from the front. It is a Whirlpool sixth sense machine, about 6 years old.

I've used several self-help website but haven't solved the problem yet... any advice from anyone would be appreciated.
