Peachy - thanks! I didn't know that about school dinners! I was always led to believe they had to come out of housekeeping.

Pink - Yes, Sky has to come off. Its not allowed in an SOA.

As to the pensions, you will need to get the pension plan numbers and contact details of the providers to put on your BR forms. You will also need to put an approximate value - I put down the approx amount that was paid in as a guess as I hadn't had any info from my provider in a while - it was all accepted by the OR. I assume OHs plans are currently being held then and he is not getting a payout from them? The OR will write to the providers and check the status and type of pension plan. Most are not touchable by the ORs but the OR will have to write to see if there is anything he can realise against them and to ensure that you haven't stashed lots of cash to avoid paying creditors (cos if we had enough money it would have gone to an account in the Caymens not into a pension plan in the UK!!) Is there anything you had an issue with on the pensions??

I rang my wages dept for the Policy number and the date taken out as I was a civil servant til they chucked us into the NHS, so was not sure on start date.

She asked if I wanted a statement I said yes, she said it will take eight weeks! so I have made a rough guess on payments into it, as reduced hours for a year have meant less in, and on half pay off sick meant less as well. Then just given a real guess at its worth, and it aint worth much! Only paid in for 6 years.

I also found out which tax office through wages as well Pink.

Also thought School dinners had to come out of Housekeeping, sure I read that here. I have opted for out of school activity and dumped school dinners off.

You can only get free school dinners surely if you are on Income Support? that was my belief of it anyway, let me know if I am wrong!

You can also get free school meals if your earnings are less than £15k(ish), and you get ChildTC but NOT WorkingTC.

Oh thanks sky I get working and child tax credits so cannot have free school meals then, handy to know in case OR questions the school dinners which I did not think you could add onto the SOA as a seperate item

    Be back soon.

School Meals should be £113 - £8.75 x 3 x 52 (get total for year) divided 12 into per calendar month, so as we can add them to the SOA, make sure you are getting the full entitlement. Don't worry if not all of them have school meals every day, this is what you are allowed and no-one is going to check. This then makes your SOA a few pounds over your income.

The idea is to create as little surplus as possible, to avoid having to pay an IPA when your OH goes BR. The OR then has to "find" £100 in order to make your OH pay an IPA. And on these figures its all arguable if they try to impose one! (IE, they take out the school meals and your OH replies thats fine, but add £80 onto housekeeping to cover packed lunches etc....)

Skylight you lost me totally now! Kids are not in school 52 weeks a year? And I realise you are basing this on school meals at junior schools, as senior schools (well my sons) have a free for all, and NO it is not FREE, but that I mean they buy what they like with how ever much they have. So if only a quid they get chips or an apple, not literally but sure you know what i mean. If they have £3 the get a decent meal.

Okay can you please help me out here, ONE child at senior school do I base that on the £8.75 per week, then times it by 52 (or take off the 12 weeks school holidays) I see Pink also has a child at senior school, does his/her school do actual school dinners at a set price Pink?

Sky is right though your £43 is not enough for 3 kids getting school meals?

  • yeh ive added 113 and took of the 43

ive put it on the other thread.

yes comp is more expensive for dinners , i suppose the weeks theyre off school will make up the extra in cost. i know about £15 a week will feed him so then it evens out i suppose

I took it to be that £8.75 per week allowance had already been worked out over the whole year?? Set school meals here are £2.30 each (primary and secondary for me are the same).

So thats actually £11.50 per week term time. x 40 weeks per year at school gives £460 actual spend per child. But like you would do with child benefit and tax credit (based on 4-week payments NOT per calander month), take £460 and divide that by 52 to get an average allowance per week of £8.84 (in my case).

The OR wants to know your spend per month, so this one you would average out - after all, you wouldn't put the £11.50 figure down and re-submit an I&E each school holiday???

Its how I would do it.
