2for1 Mr & Mrs Smith boutique hotels

Posh hotel broker Mr & Mrs Smith is doing 2for1 nights at selected hotels, when you buy the Times. It’s possible to save £100s on chi-chi rooms, though do remember this is because the places are so pricey in the first place.

Where & where?

The offer’s valid at 40 hotels in the UK and Europe, for stays up to 10 January; see a full list. They look like pretty swanky establishments;

A few examples (links are to tripadvisor.com):
  • Dar One, Marrakesh
Offer price for two nights: £93
Most of the UK hotels will only let you stay Monday to Thursday under the offer, yet the worldwide are valid any day. Check the individual listings for details.

How to grab 2for1 nights

Just collect three passwords from the Times newspaper (80p). The first was printed Saturday, October 18 and they’re appearing each day from Monday 20 Oct to Friday 24 October.

Next, peruse the list of hotels on offer and pick the one you fancy. To book, call 020 8987 4312, quoting the passwords, or email travel@mrandmrssmith.com, including the passwords and the dates you want to stay.

The offer entitles you to one free night when you book another one, though apparently some hotels allow you to get four nights for the price of two; ask check when you call. You need to book before 30 November.

Permanent ways to get bargain basement rooms

This deal isn’t about getting the cheapest possible hotel, but getting a posh place at a bargain price. Read the Cheap Hotel guide for how to slash the price of all rooms and find cosy hostels.

This deal was originally found by the guys in the newspaper thread and this post was created to give MoneySavers the full lowdown. Thanks for the spot!

  • Hello,

Anthony from Mr & Mrs Smith here:

Sorry to read that you're still awaiting a call-back, Holly. The response to the Times offer has been phenomenal, and has eaten into our response time. I can't check your enquiry without further details but if you either send me a private message with your name and the time you called, or email that info to members@mrandmrssmith.com, I'll ensure someone calls you back, member or not (membership does not affect this offer at all), right away.

  • I orginally went on the web site 9.10 this morniing to book an early room to get the best rate, however, on the confimration page, there was only one place to put your 3 passwords, I decided to call arround 9.20, just to be told it was a member offer... which I tried to explain it did say that in the paper. I was informed I would get a call back - which never came. So I emailed the members@mrandmrssmith.com email addresss at 2.15, again to no reply.

Still no reply from either the phone call or the sent email.

I have now noticed that the prices on the internet have at least double from this morning.

Do companies just put these offers up so people visit their website in the hope that they will end up paying the full price ?

I hope at least someone out there managed to get 2 rooms for the price of one, because i'm certain I wont now !

I went out so I don't know if they called me-no messages left though. After looking a bit closer.the hotel was a little further out than I wanted. Thanks for the response Anthony.
  • Hi Snowball,

I'm so sorry to hear about the difficulty you've had attempting to book this offer. I suspect the problem may be that the confirmation page you've been attempting to use is the standard hotel booking page, when the Times offer is booked by phone or email. This would explain why the prices would seem to have doubled – you were looking at two nights for the price of two, rather than the two-for-one rate. The rates quoted by Mr & Mrs Smith are invariably the best available, and do not fluctuate over the course of the day.

By the time I've posted this, you should have received a call back from our travel team. If this is not the case, please email me directly at anthony@mrandmrssmith.com. If you're still interested, I can assure you that you will get your two nights for the price of one.

I'm hunting for the password online but had no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

  • Hi everybody,
I tried to book a hotel on Friday. Was offered a room at the Pelham at £180 which I then booked with card & address. Later on that day, I checked my mobile for messages only to find that the room was suddenly no longer available and only a much more expensive room could be booked. I'm so annoyed as it seems like a complete waste of time.
