Washing mahine efficiency

OK just a quick question. I have a hotpoint something washing machine, second hand so no manual with it. It has a 'time saver' button, which is ace as it does my washing in about half the time (like the button says, I guess). Now, is it more energy efficient to use time-saver, or is it only quicker because it uses more energy?
Thanks in advance

I have a quick wash which does a 40 degree wash in about 30 mins on my creda BUT it is only for a half load only. Maybe yours is the same.
Have you googled to see if the manual is on-line somewhere for free.

I doubt it will use more energy: the most significant energy user in a washing machine is the heating element, so unless its quick wash is at a higher temperature (which it won't be, or it wouldn't be suitable for the same clothes), or uses more water (again unlikely), then it'll probably take slightly less, due to less use of the motor.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

You might be able to borrow a plug-in power consumption monitor (or they have them in Lidl etc periodically, cheap), or try to switch off everything else power-hungry in the house, and see how much it's using from the electricity meter.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I have a time saver on my machine and it works by reducing the length of the wash cycle, so saving energy. I can use it with a full load but obviously if the load is very dirty it is not so efficient so in those circumstances is less economical to use. For lightly soiled clothes though it is a good energy saver. The aggitation and water temperature are exactly the same, it just washes for a shorter period of time.0
