I think what's generally being said is don't pay the fine. and park properly.
instead send the money to me, where I will appropriate it accordingly.
MarkRemember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
you can probably wriggle out of it, but society drives me mad sometimes0

where they parked could have been blocking a fire exit or a path for emergency vehicles or anything else that needed access to this area.
considering the mentality of the poster i dont expect them to have even stopped to think or look at what they may have been blocking.
just because there was no where else to park does not mean its ok to abandon your vehicle where ever you like.
the area would have been restricted for a reason,if the parking company could park an extra car there im sure they would.
your arguement is like saying "there was no bread left in the shop so i just walked outside and took a loaf from someone passing by and paid them for it"
the space was not yours to take.
i bet if there was a disabled space there you would have used that....work permit granted!0 -
I was referring to road markings outside the car park which may keep the entrance clear or safer for pedestrians, not a box junction inside the car park
I'm happy to be corrected but I don't believe I have ever seen a box junction at the entrance to a car park. Outside fire stations perhaps - car parks? No. Keep Clear signs certainly though. That's more or less what im saying, if there is signage up to say 'Cars illegally parked will be fined/clamped' (as most NCP car parks do!), then what arguement can you have that you didnt know etc?!
I dont work for, or have ever worked for the council btw...
They can stick whatever signs they like up. The fact is that to my knowledge not once have any of these companies ever managed to demonstrate that their contractual terms and conditions are in any way legally binding. In other words, they make their own rules, try to frighten people into obeying them, and come very much unstuck when challenged.
There is nothing illegal about parking incorrectly in a private car park.0 -

Although that may generally be true, it is not as straightforward at railway station car parks, as the tickets may be issued under Railway bylaws (even if the car park is run by a non-railway company) and thus the parking could be illegal.0 -

Be careful on this, as if it was a railway car park as the railway bye-laws apply.
14
(2) No person in charge of any motor vehicle, bicycle or other conveyance shall leave or place it on any part of the railway:
(i) in any manner or place where it may cause an
obstruction or hindrance to an Operator or any person using the railway; or
(ii) otherwise than in accordance with any instructions issued by or on behalf of an Operator or an authorised person.
As it is a railway bye-law you have broken they can take you to court over non payment.Ex-Employee of a Train Operating Company.

Hi, I genuinely was not obstructing anything. There were other people also parked not in a bay that were not obstructing anything.
I would never dream of blocking an entrance or anyone else who may have needed to get in or out. I was purely trying to find somewhere unobstructive to park.
There were about 4 free disabled spaces that were empty, but I would not dream of using them (and didnt).0 -
Can you be sure you were not obstructing anything?
What if there had been an incident on the track or in the station building? Could the way you parked have stopped rescue or recovery vehicles attending the scene and saving lives? It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
I would pay £25 not to be stressed0
