I have a couple of dvd's of live comedy performances. Is it possible, and if so is it easy, to just copy the audio from these onto a cd so I can play them in the car?

Well you could just play the DVD in the PC and record with http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and save as an mp3 or wav.

I wanted to know that too. I have a few DVD singles but was unable to get the audio onto my iTunes.

If you had to listen to them all to record them (using audacity), then why would you want to listen to them again in the car.

Just Rip the Audio directly. There must be a free one somewhere in those results!!!!!!!!

Oh, and be careful when driving and listeing to comedy, you might laugh to hard and crash!

That makes no sense,,, as you would just leave the DVD in the PC
do whatever you like for the length of the DVD come back then save the Audio file as a MP3 then burn onto disk and then play in the car.

Lifting the Sound is the same as Audacity as you would still have all the music/voice recordings from the DVD so you would have to edit whatever.
  • It does make sense... I think it's you not understanding........

You Rip the Audio File from the DVD Disc, and it becomes a WAV file, ready to burn to disc. To rip an audio track takes only a few minutes. Your method means having the thing play through once, which is not money saving -- leaving the PC on for many hours (assuming the audio is many hours long) and letting the electric bill count up...

You also get the chance of any sounds from other programs playing, and then you getting those sounds in the final recording.

Nope still doesnt make sense as you will invaribly play it back and listen
to the whole thing if you want to edit it.

Edit:Yep sorry a lift will be almost instant, then the playback and edit
is still a long process, I see whar ya meant now, being thick today.

This is what you want ... it rips the audio tracks and gives them a track number based on the chapter of the DVD ... if you don't need the joins or they are in the wrong place, you can basically join up the offending clips and split them where you want.

I used this to get an mp3 copy of U2's Rattle And Hum, because the DVD soundtrack is much better than the album (different songs and versions, very trainspotter ...)

There are restrictions with the free download, which is why you have to buy it ... but I managed to download a full version of a previous build (Version 2.0.55 Build 801)

    Hope that helps.

    Marc.
