I had read many of you saying that tax credits office send you a letter about overpayment. What I am saying is:
1) Every year, renewal form, fill in it, signed it, photocopy it (kept your copy in safe place) and post it and also ring up tax credits to declare your new renewal everything the same what u fill in it.
2) When new award arrive, kept in a safe place, double check everything from your last renewal form eg: income money, hours of work etc.
3) Final declare form, signed it (photocopy it again) and kept safe place, send it back and phone them u had declare it.
4) Keep all 3 parts of forms, renewal, award and final in safe place (for at least a minimum of 10 years!!!) Also must keep your p60 forever.
If tax credits come back to u in 5 years time say you owe them overpayment, you have your real proof, a photocopy and p60 and they cannot do anything about it if you have real proof yourself. That's what I always do that when filled in form like DLA, CB, Tax Credits, Housing Benefits, Council Tax Benefits, P60, P45, work salary pay slip, bank statements and everything I always photocopy and kept myself for my own record. Better safe than sorry.
