Favorite travel search sites for flights?

I know this is a frequent question, but I scanned back a few pages and didn't see anything. Expedia and especially lastminute.com have served me well for many trips now, but I'm not getting such great deals this time (to the States). Expedia keeps offering up a decent price and then changing it when you go to buy the ticket, which is infuriating.
So, do you have any favorite bargain sites. I've not tried SkyScanner yet; do they do long-haul flights?

And Martin's Flightchecker for certain flights if dates are closer...

Hi there,
I used www.orbitz.com to book my flight(s) to America and then China, it is an american based site but a select few countries in the EU can used the site also (including the UK). The prices are good, just need to convert into pounds yourself when booking. They also give you a price matcher promise so you get an automatic refund if the flights/hotel goes down in price :j
Anyway my flight to Phoenix, Arizona cost me £240 & netflights.com (which I normally use) quoted me £370.
Hope that helps buddy.0 -
Thanks for the tips. I did remember Kayak later, but with not much luck. Wow..that's a good price to Phoenix nickcollett! The cheapest I've been able to find so far to Chicago (which is closer, and a big hub) is about £350. I've found a lower one on Orbitz, but they keep doing that "Oops! The price just changed" schtick. I've never had that from them before. It's a bit of a scam.
As for the flightchecker at MSE, there isn't one at the top right of my page. The only one I know of is this one: http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/, and it's not helpful in this particular case.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -
.....
My starting point for flights is always Amadeus.

If you were referring to my previous post, I was talking about the forum search facility at the top right hand side of this page, not a flightchecker.
You said that you had looked back through a few pages, well usually this will represent only one days worth of posts. If you do a forum search it should provide you with links to plenty of previous posts containing relevant information

Does anyone know of a US flight checker, that doesn't ask for a specific date?
I'm looking for a flight to LA, but the price is more important than the date. Although I'd still like to go when it's warm!0 -
Skyscanner, WhichBudget, Kayak and Martin's flightchecker here would be the ones that spring to mind for me. Plus of course the airline's own sites. Subscribing to their mailing lists can be worthwhile.0
