Permitted work and IB50...Help!

HI
Firstly thanks for the replies before, I don't think I asked my question correctly so I shall try again!!
I have been on Incapacity benefit for years ( I was 12st overweight and I am terrified of going out in public) and along with other conditions I have been left alone by IB until I received a IB50 last week.
In the last few months I have lost 3 stone and want to try permitted work ( I have been offered a job in the local taxi rank 14 hours a week on nights so I feel I could do that as it's nights and they will pick me up and bring me home) I feel determind to get off benefits and think this would be a huge strepping stone along with my weight loss.
What concerns me is if I fail the medical if sent for one? What happens then if I fail the test?....will I lose all benefits?
I sent my IB50 form in last week and they need to know at taxi office asap if I want the job, does anyone know how long it takes to find out if I will be sent for a medical and is it worth ringing IB office up and explaining my situation. I am really confused, please help! Some say it could be 5 months even for a reply, some say a week, I don't want to mess my IB claim up just incase I end up in the same situation I was in a few months ago.
Thanks, Sara x

If you fail the medical your IB will stop. You can appeal the decision to an independent tribunal.
As I said before it will probably be 2 or 3 months or more before you find out if you are going to have a medical. It could be less but is highly unlikely to be only a week.0 -
FROM personal recent experience and from what i`ve read on other forums 17/18 weeks is not uncommon in some areas, the jobcentre+ are only allowed to send so many IB50s each week to medical services so behind are they.0
