National Trust less than half price membership!

We recently stumbled across this loophole in the National Trust membership scheme.

At the moment if you buy a year's membership for two adults and two children it will cost you around £65. However, if you google the National Trust in New Zealand you can join online there for $69, that's £24.60 for 2 adults and 2 children for a year. You can get to visit all the UK National Trust sites and you don't have to have a New Zealand address, they'll post your cards to you!

So save some money on some great days out!

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. The NZ leeches never give up ,do they should be re-named "how to rip off a charity"
  • The way I see it is that you are still paying the NT, just not as much. I would not normally be able to afford £65 for a year's membership, so I wouldn't have joined nor would I have paid entry into any of these historical places that the NT supports. But with this, it makes it much more affordable and therefore they have got £24 out of me that they wouldn't normally have.

I have worked in the charity sector and I can safely say that I no longer feel guilty at getting a cheap deal. The charity I worked for, who will remain unnamed, spent thousands on hire cars to ferry staff to pointless meetings. The expenses tab was huge and my boss was paid £45k a year to work the same hours as me and delegate all her workload to me.

The National Trust charge huge admission prices, they charge huge car parking prices, you pay a fortune just to get near Stonehenge but can no longer actually touch the stones. This is one charity that makes a fortune. I'm sure the money goes to a good cause which is why I'm equally sure they'd rather have my £24 than nothing at all.

And yes sorry about posting in the wrong category, I was rushing last night and not paying enough attention! :o
