  • Does anyone have any good 2012 Alton Towers deals? I am looking to book a short break on site - 4 days, 2 days at each park. Website is showing £978. any good discount codes around?

    Hi,

I would strongly recommend you cutting your break in half! The water park is great BUT it will only entertain for the maximum of 2-3 hours before you get bored.

What I did was go for 2 nights with my daughter and arrived on a Sunday at about 1pm. We went straight into the water park for a few hours (which was a touch busy being a sunday but still great fun) and then tackled the Theme Park on the Monday which was virtually empty. Then on the final day we went in the water park for a couple of hours after breakfast and then to the theme park in the afternoon to visit a few rides which we didn't get on previously. We also played the crazy golf course one evening which is situated near the hotel which passed an hour and was great fun.

By the end of Tuesday (the 3rd day) me and my daughter were totally worn out and was ready for home time, plus eating all the food there (flambo's I recommend which is an all you can eat buffet at Splash landings) you kind of want to eat something healthy and homely!!

Of course this is my opinion and I don't know what your circumstances are. Also if you keep an eye out i'm sure The Sun newspaper will do a promotion with Alton Towers and if you quote 'The Sun' when making a telephone reservation they knock off a huge amount! I think my break (2 x nights in splash landings with breakfast, 2 x theme park tickets, 2 x water park tickets, balloons, large teddy and a cake) at the end of September was a little over £200 and before I mentioned 'The Sun' it was something like £350!!!

I'm hoping to go again next again this year so fingers crossed The Sun promotion starts again in 2012!

@babie gurl - if you have a Merlin Annual Pass, go to their website and under 'pass holder perks' you will find a list for friends prices, bookable by phone 24 hrs in advance. We just done this for my sons friend at Thorpe Park and it was £22.40 for his friend as we all have passes, so it was about half price, which is a massive saving if you only need one ticket, most offers at the moment are 2for1 which wouldn't work for your circumstance obviously!

I've just checked the site and Alton Towers and Thorpe Park aren't listed now but if you call the number I'm sure they will still confirm a reduced price to you (we booked ours last Thursday)

Hope this helps and have a fantastic time!

I'd certainly like something for money off there too.

What other parks are close-ish to county durham?
Don't mind driving, but cant go too long in the car as we have a 7 month old still needing regular feeds. Ever tried doing that it transit? Not fun!
