It's what Warren doesn't tell you that he's doing that you should be backing up the truck for.0 -

Spot on there! :T
If a mega-league player like Buffet is buying shares it's time to take cover! His motives will be very different from making a short term buck.
He will be looking for future takeover opportunities (with himself doing the taking over). He won't mind at all if the shares fall further: it will give Mr B an opportunity to buy even more. When the time is right he will pounce on the companies concerned!

The bottom of the market must be soon, I am trying to find more cash to invest right now
Whilst maintaining a sensible rainy day fund0 -
his own 'personal' portfolio
His own personal portfolio is Invested with a 15-20 year timeframe.
And of course he is selling his US Bonds.....with the amount of new Bonds they will need to sell over the coming years the value of Bonds will 'tank'
It's far more significant that he is selling the Bonds, than it is he is buying the Equity.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I dont think there will ever be a better time to buy shares. Of course you have to buy the right ones and thats the tricky bit.0

It must be nice to be Warren.Or Perhaps on this occasion he is the Worlds greatest Pumper & Dumper ?!
Buy some shares.
Tell the world.
Sit back and count the profits
.
To be fair to the guy, he did say that he couldn't understand derivatives and that they were weapons of financial destruction which he wouldn't touch with a barge pole.0 -
You need to bear in mind that he's not just bought shares in a company, he's been able to buy 'special' shares which entitle him to a 10% divi pa, which on its own is a nice guaranteed return, and the option of buying more at a set price (which I dont think is far off todays sp for the companies involved).
So ever so slightly different to buying ordinary shares but, good nonetheless.

EDIT: The thing that really interested me a little while ago was WB and Bill Gates visiting and meeting with Canadas Oilsands companies, something he said he had no interest in a number of years ago.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Most 78 year olds would have put their feet up by now.0

Somehow I doubt daytime tv is as appealing as briefing the world on how they should spend their money
Warren isnt calling a bottom to the market, he is just saying it makes more sense to buy now then it did when they were expensive and the point abouts bonds falling is right on0
