How can the phone not work (no dialling tone) changed phones still no joy. Yet broadband is fine?

Its a landline you talking about right, you tried to call the phone on a mobile, is there a problem with the line,0

have you got a splitter on each phone jack?0

Unplugged everything and plugged in the old standby analogue phone direct to main socket and still nothing!!!
Tried calling and it is ringing fine at trhe mobile end nothing at house end.0 -

Sounds like you have a line problem. Telephony need a low resistance connection whereas broadband due to the much higher frequencies involved can work even when one leg of the line is broken.
