Laminate Flooring Cleaner

Hi - hope you can help. In a nutshell : -

- had workmen in fitting a new bathroom
- they fitted sticky floor protector on laminate flooring from the front door to the bathroom
- job done, they lifted the protective cover and it has left sticky coating on the laminate

What is the best way to shift this? Normal soap and water isn't really working after 3 attempts. Any one had th same thing happen to them?

Help much appreciated.

  • Something like the eraser blocks you can buy in the supermarket etc might be the way to go?

Did they use the clear film on a roll, or the padded foam stuff?
Most of the manufacturers of the clear film say it should not be used on wood or laminate floors. You can get a special, even lower stick, padded option for wood floors.
I'd get the builders back to look at it, & get them to clean it off or replace the floor.

Probably white spirit will do it.

Also worth remembering you need a laminate floor/wood floor specialist cleaner for general cleaning.

Pledge do one, but I use Astonish - £1ish from Wilkinsons.

Cif or Flash or other detergents, even the handy sprayer type, shouldn't be used, as they contain bleach & aren't soap based products.
