Just had an email from NR. Rates from 1 Nov down from 5.75% to 5.15%. Putting it all in the AA account now.

At least it's fairly safe, of course....0

Of course. That's why they've done it, but it could backfire if people remove their savings for a better rate. Most banks are government owned now anyway

But notice the rate is down by 0.6%, not the BoE 0.5%.
What's the betting, when it eventually turns, the rate goes up less than the BoE !!I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
The price of security and peace of mind! Keep in mind all the turmoil over Icelandic banks and it does not seem so bad!0

As they have dropped their rates over the last few months I've been reducing my balance. In November it will be down to £1. Keeping the thing open just in case ......0

Likewise, my money (bar £1) will be coming out soon. The risk versus reward is no longer appealing to me. Time to put some money elsewhere.0
