disabled parents high heating costs

Options
hi
im new to the site and wonder if anyone can help me, my parents are both in their late 70`s and both disabled, due to my fathers terminal illness they require the heating on permanently. This obviously is leaving them with high bills, they pay by direct debit each month and this had jumped drastically recently, does anyone know anything about the social care scheme that is being offered by fuel companies? At the moment the are with eon.

Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

You should track down which companies offer a "StayWarm" tariff in your region. Provided your parents have only one or two bedrooms this should offer the best value (It's an 'all the energy you want at one fixed price' tariff).

If they live in a larger home you should compare normal online tariffs as well. Look carefully at the Tier 2 rates that are charged - you may find better value if you take individual fuels from separate companies - on high usages the differences between companies can be very large.

Here's a link to MARTINS info

''Staywarm is a special tariff from E.ON for any home with someone aged over 60 living in it can access.
Its big advantage is you're told the price you'll pay for a year and this is fixed, no matter how much gas and electricity you use.
Once a powerhouse deal, recent changes means it's no longer best for all.
