Hi Amanda , well done for getting your first three bookings :T. A little tip that worked for me was when you ask next time tell them that you need six partys to start ( you don't have to get 6 , but the more you get , the better start you will have ) and you have five already and " just need one more " to make your six . I know this is a little white lie , but this seems to make a difference because they will feel good about doing you a massive favour and will be the person who made it possible for you to start your business . When you get the extra booking , just keep saying the same thing to different people .

Good luck with it , and let me know if this works for you

Thanks, will have a go. Got the 4 now, plus mine and maybe the 6th close to booking. I like the idea of offering a gift if they book a party, that should get things going as well.

    Thanks

    Amanda

I used to give them a free gift for booking a party , but have now changed it to giving them a free gift when they hold their party and award it just before my demo .( this avoids me giving gifts out to hostess's who book then cancel) I usually do a pack of three tealights wrapped up , along with a partylite pen and a candle lighter ( you can buy them from the 99p shop) . I make a point of saying that the hostess has won a free gift for holding her party on the origional date booked . You should have 6 boxes of votives that you can use for this purpose in your kit. Everyone loves freebies !!

If I put orders in on 23rd October, would that be cutting it too fine for delivery by the 31st? Or can I do an express delivery option?

There'a no special delivery option. At the moment they're coming pretty quickly - I put one in on Monday afternoon and it's being delivered today - that's really good in my opinion but it's not always like that. I've seen it taking nearly two weeks in the past.

I'm not sure what to do - I don't want people to order and then not receive Halloween items in time and maybe end up with a load of returns. Perhaps I should just warn them and let them make their own minds up?
  • Funnily enough at my party last week no-one was interested in Halloween stuff and they were disappointed that I hadn't displayed Christmas stuff. I did sell a black cat t/l holder but she's giving it as a Christmas present lol!

Liz - I would more say your stuff would arrive on time as not month-end on the 23rd but the products can be sent back this is not a problem.

Just Me-The Halloween stuff seems to be going great for me, I never knew how many people celebrate halloween big style here until I started with PartyLite.

I also have a small amount of stuff in my office and the people are loving the halloween stuff, so just shows you depends on the crowd at the time.

nikki - stop worrying! sales are never ever a problem, once they see and smell the products the usually sell themselves, honestly! The main thing you need to get your head around is the hostess incentive scheme, this is the most important thing (IMHO).

Good luck it will be fine!

From what I've read on various Halloween related forum posts, it's pretty popular in Scotland and it seems more Scots celebrate than in the rest of the UK, maybe that's why?
