printed logos on envelopes, etc.

with all the talk of the royal mail and theft problems, why do companys insist on printing their logos on all their mailings? this includes ticketmaster & other ticket outlets that clearly identify the envelopes containing tickets, the various banks that i use, all of which print their logos on most correspondences, ebay sellers who actually write on the outside of the package what's inside, etc, etc, etc. it's bad enough that overseas senders must indicate on the customs label the contents & value of the parcel, but why does everyone else continue to do so? what's wrong with using plain brown boxes without logos and simple envelopes with discreet return addresses?

i can't imagine that its an effective form of advertising for anyone other than potential thieves. i've had a number of things go missing in the post, and i'm tired of companys doing nothing to discourage this.

  • I had a letter though the post the other day and had no idea what it was or who is was from as it was totally plain. I opened it and it was a letter from a courier company telling me that See Tickets had tried to deliver my Foo Fighters tickets but that there had not been anyone in. I was extremly pleased to find that they hadn't left them with a neighbour and that they weren't sitting at the post office as I too am worried when it seems that expensive items like tickets come in envelopes with the company name all over it! I then called the company and a courier bought them back the next day. I was extremly pleased with the way See Tickets have dealt with the theft of tickets, this system seems to work very well.

I think having the company logo makes them look more professional, but I can see your point.

Interestingly, my bank sends chequebooks and cards out in unmarked envelopes with the address written in the deliberately tacky Comic Sans MS font! An interesting way to deter thieves.

my credit card bill comes with the company logo all over the envelope.

even if an envelope hasnt got a logo on it theres usually a return address on the back that has the companies name on it.

I had a chequebook or card or something a few months ago where the address was written by hand on the envelope. Not sure if it was a security measure or their printer broke.

I know one ebay seller who, when sending out packages with stuff that might get stolen, makes up the name of a company selling really boring products and prints it on the parcel. I can't tell you what it is as I don't want to blow his cover.
Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here! :D
