extra phone point

does anyone know how i go about getting a phone point in another room do i have to go through bt? my only point is in the hall and i want one in the living room and don't want to have a wire traipsing across the floor,
so do i have to go through bt or is thre some sort of phone technician that can do it.

    No you do not have to go through BT to get an extension socket fitted. You could do if you wish but I am sure the price would be very expensive.
    If you are DIY capable you could do it yourself, if not then a local tradesman is the best bet, more often than not ex BT engineers set up in this type of business. Yellow pages or local paper should give you a few to choose from.
  • It's really easy to fit an extension, you need to go from the master socket in the hallway. Places such as Wilko sell the kit. All you need to do is a google search on the internet about how to do it, there's plenty of information out there. You can route the cable around the skirting, over the door etc etc, depending on how your house is laid out.
    If you really feel unsure, then any telephone engineer can do it for you, there are several who are ex-BT who have started up their own business, as notbritishgas mentioned.
