Changed to NPower but still being billed by Atlantic
Options
I changed to NPower which has gone through ok. I have had my first direct debit from them (duel fuel). I changed from Atlantic who confirmed the changes by sending me 2 " sorry your leaving" letters for gas and Electric.
I get a letter today from Atlantic stating they are glad I am staying with them for my Gas. They have also debited £40 from my account and ironicly credited me £ 40 as a loyalty cashback reward. Iphoned them to say that I am now with NPower and they shouldn't be billing me. They said they have not recieved a final reading from NPower yet which is why they have not closed the account. They also need to send me my final bill when they have this reading. NPower say they don't know why they never got this reading suffice to say they are sending it to Atlantic.
Confused....? Very
Has anyone had similar experiences?

Unfortunately this is quite common. It is the responsibility of your new supplier to obtain a meter reading close to the transfer date and they send this to your old supplier through computer dataflows so the old supplier can close their account to the same reading.
This problem normally occurs when the new supplier, for whatever reason, doesn't send the correct dataflow. As your new supplier has said the would resend the dataflow this should resolve the problem. If you haven't already done so, I would recommend that you keep a record of the transfer reading to make sure both suppliers are using the same correct reading.0
