Lloyds TSB Overdraft Question

I opened a Premier Vantage current account a month ago and when I got Internet Banking I applied for an Overdraft and it declined me and said due to credit scoring.

However, today I thought I would try again but this time it said:

'Thank you for applying for an Overdraft. Before we can give you a decision we would like to discuss a few details with you'.

Does anyone know what this means? (other than the obvious) but like has anyone had this where its just another version of 'you've been declined' or is it accepted?

I hate ringing and being told by someone I am declined LOL, it makes me feel crap! so I prefer to decisions online.

Chris.

Often it just means that they will do a manual credit check (e.g. if you're not the electoral role or something like that) ... maybe they want a birth certificate copy ... To me, it sounds positive so long as you're legit!

Okay thanks. Has this happened to you before?
  • It happened to me before a couple of times when I was with Lloyds. Both times it was a straight decline.

Hi ShelfStacker, yeh I rang them and they said I had been declined.

I wondering why they bothered throwing up a different message if its declined?

It happened to my OH with Barclays when he opened his current account + overdraft and he provided a birth certificate and was then accepted. Not sure if there were any other conditions before they accepted him (this was a fair few years ago) but remember it being fairly hassle-free.

-- OP just saw your update :( Bummer.

Yeh a bummer, but was not surprised, it just threw me off when they presented me with a different message. I appreciate your advice and help though thanks! :-)
