Working tax credit

I've been working part time for the last 2 years but working 32 hrs a week. i have realised from reading theads and exploring links that i could be eliglble for working tax credits.

I know i can get them back dated for 3 mths, but i'm going to be made redundant in 4 weeks time - i've been applying but not got another job yet.

So.. my question is should i still apply for the back dated WTC?

thanks

You could easily submit a claim and then call them up and close the claim the day you were made redundant if you still did not have a job lined up, then open a new claim if you found a new job.

Things to be careful of though, your tax credits claim is based on what you earn every financial year so any money you receive would be based on how much you have earned from 06/04/08 up until the day you were made redundant PLUS the income you may earn from the date you were made redundant too 05/04/09.

Ultimately the decision is up to yourself.

I went on the directgov site and did the 'Do i qualify' questions and it said i did. This is quite a well paid job and the jobs i have been going for are paying less than what i get at the moment, so i figure that i should still be entitled to them.
