making audio disc problem

i have a newish sony viao ive only got the basic programs which it came with on,im wanting to make an audio cd from an mp3 disc and none of the programs will let me they all say theres a problem with the files i have a copy of nero but its wanting the serial number which i dont have,is there any other way to sort this?thanks in advance

windows media player wont work either im confused,the nero i have i think was nero 5 and i installed it on the other pc which we sorted,but asked for a serial number and it said the demo version was out of date,and wanted $49.99 for the serial number
its the first time ive tried burning on this laptop,i can do ipod music etc but not to a disc and its definatly got a reader and writer

Has the Sony Vaio not got a program called Roxio? as mine came pre installed and is just as good as Nero in doing burning etc

WMP can be a bit fickle.
This is a good free program.

Post back if you need to convert to formats other than .mp3, as older home CD players may not recognise that format.
