Hello CCCS,
Just a few questions regarding a dmp.
Im currently in process of starting a dmp with yourselves.
When the monthly payment gets split between my creditors is it split equally or as a percentage of who i owe most to and least to so some get more than others.
My lowest debt is £1180, if say early next year i managed to get hold of some moeny, say through overtime, selling things etc. can i choose to pay off the smaller debts, or does the money have to be split like a normal payment?
Thanks

Hi there
I have already emailed CCCS and they have replied, however I have some questions.
We came back to England in November after being out of the country for 7 months. During that time we were unable to pay any of our creditors. We have a loan with HSBC and they have closed our account. I have since been to Natwest and Lloyds and both have declined a basic bank account - think its because of our credit rating. Problem is we now have jobs and need an account to pay our money into and get dd's set up again to pay our creditors. What can we do if nobody will give us a bank account??
Thanks :-)0 -
Have got a question for one of the CCCS advisors please.
Checked on the Debt Remedy Plan and it gives me a figure of £234 per month which I can just about afford to pay. I understand that you can never confirm for definite that a creditor will accept this payment but presumably, the more you offer, the greater the chance of being accepted?
Really, my question is about a CCJ as I am concerned that if I get a CCJ that I will struggle to move jobs if I wish to do so in the future. It says in the online guide I received after completeing my plan that they are likely to try to obtain a CCj if I don't stick to the agreement. Does that mean stick to the agreement I have with them now ie pay the minimum payment every month as per usual or stick to the DMP with CCCS?
Sorry if that's waffle but feeling very stressed and confused at the moment!!!
Thanks

Hi shropshirelad and thank you for your message
Yes…You are quite right! They have no right to harass you in this way.
You do not have to answer personal questions regarding equity in the property etc.
I have attached a link from the OFT Debt collection Guide for you to look at Unfair Business Practices page 3. click here
If you feel that they are harassing you, then keep a record of everything that is being said and take the names of the callers.
Is also a good idea to note the frequency of the calls.
You could also ask them to take you off their telephone database and make any further correspondence in writing only.
If they continue to harass you and you have good evidence of this, then you could report them to Trading standards.
The main thing is to continue paying the regular payment of what you can afford to your DMP and do not pay them any extra.
If you are able to offer more then contact our client support team and they will review your budget and circumstances.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Sue
Belated reply, but thank you very much for your advice. Someone else on a different forum also suggested that telling them that you were taping the converstaion worked quite well..
Keep smiling everyone, it does get better, even with a few hiccups....0 -
Hi, I have been having money trouble for a while. I went to see a financial advisor who has passed my number on to a debt counsellor to see if they can help me.
They are called TCF Debt solutions. Could you please tell me wether or not they are a good choice to use, will they provide a free service to me or will it end up costing me in the long run?
I need help, not ripping off, not someone else trying to make money out of me!
This is another financial minefield that I need to get right as I am now at risk of losing my house!
Will these people provide me with the best advice? will it be completely free? will they advise me on my best option (IVA, Debt plan, bankruptcy)? and will they deal with my creditors on my behalf?
Can you advise me of the best people to use who will be completley free and actually work to help me and my family out of debt without lining there own pockets?
Sorry to moan but its very stressfull. Regards P&R0 -
If a debt has been sold by a creditor to a debt collection company, how many years does it take before the debt is wiped off the balance sheets if there has been zero contact, despite sending a couple of cheques as monthly payments, the cheques had not been cashed & were returned, I've been told in the past that its 5 years before they wipe it clean off your credit report.
This is from a card i stupidly got when i was 18.. over 9 years ago.. I've heard nothing from the card company & they say they know nothing about me.. !***Signature removed by Forum Team***0 -

I did something similar recently & was passed by an advisor to this TCF Debt Solutions, after some minor online research, finding out the advisor was being paid a commission from this TCF Debt Solutions Ltd for passing someone with debt to them, they then told me that the first 4 payments were for them to keep for 'admin fee's' and then further payments would be sent to creditors, despite not being agreed with creditors at all..
CCCS is the only way i would go now, its totally free service & help is invaluable, these debt solution companies are thieving money grabbers & i wouldnt give them the last breath on earth.. I'm sure the CCCS guys will help you out in more detail than i can though***Signature removed by Forum Team***0 -
I have a legal case that is due to settle next summer. It is a personal injury case and will go through the high courts. I contacted you a few months ago regarding the fact that I had owed about 50,000GBP due to medical expenses. Due to the settlement being soon(ish) you advised my best plan was to pay monthly contributions etc.
I have seen recently that in america they offer a pre-settlement loan for this situation. Could you advise if this is possible at all in this country, as everytime I enquire to a company that says they do this, I don't hear back.
Kind Regards
Gary
Hi Gary,
Thank you for your message.

Hi guys...
Just joined this site and to cut a long story short I am finally willing to sort my finances out. As I am sure you are aware there is simply too much info online to know what the correct step to take is. Basically I would like to ask what advice you have for me. I have been checking online for about 3 weeks and dedicated a lot of hours to this, but this site seems to be the best and most genuine so thanks Martin!!
I have 3 credit cards with a total of £3800 and a loan of £5000. I have just started working and I find I am making minimum payments but still maxing my cards out each month. I had a call from a company offering me "help" to pay off my debts by setting up a debt managment plan at a £200 initial set up fee and £35 a month fee. They say they charge 15% of my debt to help me. Is this s good option?
I have filled out my Debt Remedy Plan on your website and am waiting for someone to contact me. I am not sure though that this is the best option, it seems like this is only for people in serious debt, although I am struggling each month so perhaps it is the best option??? What do you think? I would like to get my interest charges frozen, the company I mentioned in the last paragraph have offered to do this for me, but can I not contact them myself and save myself money? Or can you do this as part of your service?? Will a Debt Remedy Plan affect my Credit Rating and deter me from getting credit in future?? Do you charge for your service???? My Web Ref No. is XXXX if you want to look at my case in more detail.
Sorry this seems like a ramble but it has taken me such a long time to finally realise I need to do something and I just want to know im doing the right thing!!
Many Many Thanks to all of you and Martin especially..... Im at a loss and really need your help!
Niall
Hello Niall,
Thank you for your message.
As I don’t know what company has approached you it would be hard to say if they are reputable, however you should never pay a company for debt advice as you can get that free from us or other non profit organisations such as the citizens advice or National Debtline.
After you completed debt remedy, it would have given you tailored advice to deal with your situation, unless there was something that stood out in the budget and it should have prompted you to call the support team. I am unable to access the accounts of the people I chat to online for data protection reasons, however I will PM you the support teams contact number so you can chase them up.
One other thing that I should point out is, no company is able to make your creditors stop interest and charges, this is always at the creditors discretion.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Hi MBS1,
On a dmp the payments are worked out on a pro rata bases. So basically the larger creditors will get a larger proportion on a monthly basis, doing it this way it is fair to them all then.
If you do come into any extra cash, give us a call at the time and we will let you know your options.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt.
