HI
I have dmp with payplan are they a good company? MSE used to recommend them but I know see that CCCS are preferable, whats do cccs do better?
Hi xchugs,
CCCS is an independent registered charity and we offer free debt advice and help to individuals that can no longer cope with financial pressure.
We also offer a DMP service that is similar to the one that payplan offer.
I hope that this helps.

Hi there,
I was approached by a company a few weeks ago with regards to a DMP. After reading the helpful posts on this site, I realised that this company was only after one thing.....my money!!
Anyway, I went onto the cccs website and filled in the debt remedy form. The question that I have is:
My DH and I don't split the bills 50/50. I got into debt a few years ago and we had to remortgage the house to sort it. I said that because it was my fault, I would pay the mortgage and half the car payments, and he would pay the rest, ie c/tax, gas, elec, etc. I earn more than he does too, so only thought it fair?!Anyway, is it possible for me to do a DMP showing my I&E as my own only, eg mortgage, car and debt payments. Or is it advisable to split everything down the middle and on the debt remedy form?? I'm a bit confused......
Thanks a lot!
Hi scoodies,
Thanks for your post.
It is totally up to you how your budget is made up. We normally say that by including all of the household income and expenditure you get a better financial picture, but there is no ‘rule’ as such.
If you want to just include your income and expenditure then just fill in debt remedy with the figures that you pay.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for your message.
I would suggest that you come for a telephone appointment and then we can see if there any areas within your budget that we can adjust. Council Tax needs to take priority over personal loans, credit cards etc
What you could do for example is reduce the payments down to your unsecured creditors and once the council debts start to clear then this money can once again go towards your other debts.
If you would like an appointment, please call 0800 138 1111.

Hi Sarah,
We have reduced all of our non-priority creditors - they share £107 between them on a pro-rata basis, most getting £2-3 a month. We set up a self-administered DMP which prioritises the council tax arrears.
I suppose we could reduce our outgoings even more by defaulting on the mobile and sky contracts but that would still not give enough spare to pay newlyns what they want as it would have to be split between the other 3 councils as well. But I thought that some of these amounts were considered acceptable expenditure?
Is there anything we can do?
Thanks

Hi
I have received the Welcome pack from you and phoned straight away to get the direct debit set up, this has now been done, but the operator said that this initial payment wont go from my account until 10th September, she said that this would be ok and that I could change it to any other date after the first payment was taken.
I just want to confirm that this is ok with you for the first payment as all your documents say that payment should go out on 1st of each month.
Many Thanks0 -

Hi, I too am at the same stage as you and was also told by CCCS that they couldn't take the first payment til 10th Sept due to it being so close to the end of the month. I asked the lady if the creditors would receive their payment in time and she reassured me they would and it will be fine.
Hope this helps

Hi. We're a couple of months into our joint DMP and so far it's gone really well. But we're having a bit of a problem with one of our creditors (Tesco personal finance) and would appreciate some advice please.
Basically, Tesco are saying they haven't received any documents from CCCS, and they will not acknowledge my DMP until they do. I phoned the client support team, who told me that the docs had been sent, but to a different address to the one Tesco have given me, and that they could not be sent out again! Tesco have kindly put a stop on my account for 28 days until this is sorted, but if CCCS are not prepared to send the docs to the correct address, I'm not too sure what to do.
Can you help pease?
Thanks

You could look at reducing the credit debts down to a goodwill gesture payment of £1pcm until you are on top of the council tax. Once the council tax is then up to date then increase the payments to your credit debts. If you would like it changing in your budget then give us a call and we would be able to help you with that.
You would then be able to write another letter to the council advising you have reduced all payments to your credit debts to cover the outstanding CT bills.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Hello,
Unfortunately I don’t deal with the payment side of things, I would recommend that you contact our client support department – I don’t want to give you any duff info

Hello and welcome to the boards!
It’s difficult to give you detailed advice on your options as we don’t have your full financial details. However you can visit our online debt advice facility called Debt Remedy. Debt Remedy would assist you in completing a financial statement and you would be provided with tailored advice on the best way to deal with your situation. Click here to go directly to Debt Remedy.
If you would prefer to talk to a debt counsellor about your situation, you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process. If you have this information ready it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor if one is available, otherwise we will arrange a time that is convenient for you to be called back for an appointment.
Regards,
CCCS
