    Hi,

Myself anf my fainace have a combined debt of aroubd £17,000 and last year after we decided that we needed to do something about this debt we contacted a debt solutions company called DFH Financial Solutions and now pay £280 a month to them which is divided out and paid to each of our debts. In 5 yeras time all our debt will be paid of. I have heard a few things about company like this ripping people of and i just wanted to see if you know anything about them and if this was the best action to take in our circumstances, any advise would be appreciated, thanks

    Hello,

Not heard of DHF Financial Solutions to be honest. What I would say as a bit of general advice is that, if you are on a debt management plan and DHF are a fee charging company, you would be able to get the same service from a non fee charging organisation such as CCCS, National Debtline or CAB. Every bit of money needs to be going towards your debts rather than to another company.

If you would like an appointment to discuss this you can call our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. If you have all the details of your income, expenditure and debts they maybe able to get you straight through to a counsellor for an appointment.

Alternatively, you could run your own dmp. To do this you would need to put together a detailed budget and work out the monthly payments on a pro rata basis. It would then just be a case of sending these to your creditors and setting up a standing order or asking them for a payment book.

Thanks Sarah this has answered the main point to my long winded question.

Just one other thing if say I come in to a little windfall like my free shares from the company I work for. Wouldn't be much as I work part time prob around £100 to £150 every year. Will i have to give all of it to the creditors? I think I can start cashing in as of next year. I'm planning to do PPI claim as both credit cards were without doubt missold. Will this money go to the creditors.

Just to point on the PPI if it did I wouldn't mind. But some of My shares would be used for the kids by choice, A day out type of thing, as I know we would not be able to afford things like this whilst on a DMP.

Many thanks in advance .........I know I waffle on a bit:o

I would recommend if you do come into any money to pay this into the plan as this would reduce the term down for you.

    Hello

My sister took out a £22,000 loan 4 years ago with her then-partner whom she lived with. She has made repayments for 4 years now. She pays £147 a month and her ex-partner initially agreed to pay £147 a month too. The loan is secured against her house but they both signed the loan agreement. The house/mortgage has never been in his name. The APR is approx. 15% and the loan is over 15 years.

Her problem is that he keeps not paying his monthly payment but the loan company only threaten my sister with action, as the loan is secured against her home. He will not discuss the missed payments with her (he does not care) even though when the loan was taken out the majority of it was used to pay off his huge debts.

She has sought free legal advice but her solicitors can not find a legal reason for her ex-partner to be made to pay his half of the debt every month.

PLEASE please can someone offer some advice as she has 5 children and the constant threat of losing her home every month is making her ill.

    Thanks, J

    Hi Juju,

    Thank you for your message.

This is a difficult situation as they will be jointly liable for the debt, but there is more pressure on your sister as it’s secured against her home.

One suggestion that may work is, if your sister was to pay the full secured loan payment, and then her ex partner could give her the £147, so if she has any other unsecured debts she can they use that money to pay those.

I know it’s not the ideal situation; however her secured loan needs to always take priority, as it would put the home at risk if she was to fall into arrears. If needed with unsecured debts she could always try and offer reduced payments the months he failed to pay her.

Hello I hope someone can advise me......

I was in a dmp with a charging company from Nov 06 until Oct 08, I then went to my local CAB and have been working with them. CAB have helped me to to a financial statement and agree lower payments with my creditors. Due to a relative being able to help me, I am now in a position that I have made settlement offers to all of my creditors. Two of them have accepted and I have email copies of the acceptance letters and I am just waiting for the hard copies to come by post. The others have rejected my offers and I want to ask them to reconsider due to the 2 settlements being agreed. However as the creditors that have agreed have not yet had payment I don't know whether I should reduce my total debt on my letters to what it will be when they are paid or leave it as the total it is at the moment?

Sorry I hope this makes sense!!

Sorry to re post this, just really need an answer if anyone has one, want to get the letters out asap.

    Thanks again xx

  • hi

i am looking for some advice/help

i am currently in reciept of incapacity benefit, housing benfit, council tax benefit, income support and dla

i have 4 credit cards and each month i pay:
    1 - £40
    2- £20
    3- £50
    4- £25

    i have a loan that i pay £134.60 month
    i have a catalogue that i pay £40 month
    i have a loan that i pay £108 month

i have gone through all my bills and have managed to reduce 2 things but cant reduce anything else and all together i pay £243.15 month

    my rent is £425 month

the worst part of all of this is my bank. i have an overdraft of £1250 which ive had since i was a 1st year at uni. now tho im having big problems with it. i am ending up over the overdraft every month. i am now being charged from £150 - £200 month charges because once my benefits go in there are just puting me back into the overdraft and then bills come out and take me over again. i am starting to get my bills to come out of anyother account and am going to try and get my benefits changed to a diferent account but all my bills are stagered through the month.

i just dont know what to do
it is getting to the stage were i am no money spare to live on! and am paying an extra £100-£200 extra because of the charges. it a viscous circle.
im worried that my benefits wont be changed in time and then ill end up owing money from the other account. what will happen with my original bank account when money stops going in although i am going to try and put money into each month as much as i can afford each month. but im just so worried that its all going to go wrong.

i am currently £200 over my overdraft and have just had my benefits and so dont get paid again for another 2 weeks but in this 2 weeks i have a few bill coming out.

please can you give me any advice on what the best way to deal with this problem. im begining to feel realy ill because of the stress. i know i am probably in a better situation than alot of people are but i just dont know what to do anymore.

    please help

    hels xx

:mad:Hi I wondered can you give me advice on this matter?
My Hubby was overpaid jobseekers in 2001 and he agreed to pay this off at £5 perweek for ??? months by DD. As far as we were concerned the debt had been repaid and the DD's stopped acordingly. Then on 16th July 2008 we received a letter from Social Services Agency telling him he still owes £70. He rang them and asked what this money is and why he hasn't heard anything since the dd's stopped being taken out. The advisor couldn't tell him anything about this and my husband rightfully asked for evidence of all the payments including dates of payment against the debt. We heard nothing since and last week we received a letter from a debt collection agency requesting the £70. Hubby rang and the guy on the phone was quite ifnorant and rude. though my hubby explained he had disputed the debt with the SSA and therefore was trying to seek information about this. Is there any advice you can give me about this. Don't want any problem debts as we are clearing up our loans rightly.
    Hi Loveleelaidee

Try contacting the DWP again asking for a statement of payments, it is worth a try. If they are unwilling to help you can use the information contained on the link below to make a subject access request, asking them to detail any repayments made towards the balance to see if the outstanding balance is correct or not.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi all
    Newbie here.
I have been paying my debts through CCCS for the last 4 years I thought I had come to the end and had 1 more payment to make at the end of next month then debt free at last.
I decided to ring creditors to find if thier end balances tallied with CCCS's as there was only 2 left. The first one was about £80 more which is fair enough.
I then rang Barclaycard, my CCCS statement showed £40 and the person at the other end of the phone told me it was £1084. I laughed at them and told them they had made a mistake as my CCCS statement showed £40. I was stunned when the person said that I did not cancel the payment protection and that is why the debt has gone up. My original balance was £900.
I have never received a statement from Visa since CCCS took over otherwise I would have realised and cancelled it. In fact I am not 100% sure that I had payment protection, as for the last 2 years I have been unable to work through illness.
My sunshine day has been replaced by black clouds.
Can someone give me any advice or help as to wether there is anything I can do or do I just have to pay it.
    Thanks in advance
  • Hi I have been with CCCS for over a year now...
I have now got to do a new budget with you...

The only problem I now have is that my income will be going down in march and I have worked out that I will be have less coming in and more going out due to increased bills etc

So I wont actually have the amount available to pay CCCS...

Im in a panic...as I have no choice about this change in income and it will end up leaving me in minus figures.

I cant find any way of reducing my budget...

What happens if the funds are not available?
    Whats the next steps?

    Thanx in advance
