For the information of others who have been worried about the delay in the Post Office dealing with applications for this product.
My deposit cleared on 8th September 2008.The bond was not actually opened until the 15th October. I telephoned their customer services to establish what interest I was getting paid during the 5 week set up period. They assured me that I was getting the full 7.05% from the date my funds cleared to the maturity date of the bond. I have requested they confirm this in writing. Effectively I will get 7.05% for 13 months and one week.
