Apparently he's £1k behind with his rent (which should be paid with HB but apparently hasn't been) & was wanting me to lend him it - I wouldn't if I had it cos I'd never see it again.
He's telling our Dad that he can't afford to live because he only gets JSA every 2 weeks, he lives with his gf & her son who's just turned 8 & between them they get £100 a week in benefits & that's it - which I know is total rubbish! For one person JSA is about £60 a week so for the 3 of them it will be more than £100 + she'll get her CB for the lad as well. My Dad seems to think I should let my brother have about £20-£40 a week - just because I can - to help him out - but why should my DH work hard to just hand his earned cash over to some lazy idiot like that!
He's always got cash for cigarettes & booze, he has 2 pets which never do without & I know he gets cash for odd jobs for people (probably in the region of £500 a week!) so I've told him where to go.
Thats awful, you've definitely done the right thing. It makes me mad these people who are always crying poverty but never seem to be short of money for fags and booze! You're cash is hard earned, he doesn't deserve a penny of it.

Hi pms, hope you had a nice holiday hun xx
As for your brother, I hope things calm down there for your sake, you sound really upset by it all. But if its any consolation I totally agree with you hun, been there with my nasty sis and am still there with her!! At least one good thing about losing both my mum and dad is that they are no longer in the middle between us and I don't have to watch her use them0 -
id tell him were to go aswell my sister with 1 kid gets 120 aweek then 25cb plus the rent ect,my oh is lazy and we would be better off on benifits but we dont and i dont go begging my mum who owns a shop for handouts,if he want more cash tell him to get off his backside and get a job, theres loads of wearhouse temping jobs going up to xmas so there is no excuse hun, dont give in to himReplies to posts are always welcome, if they are done in the correct manner. A woman hurt in the London terrorist attacks has found an unusual way to
afford the finer things in life after she was left unable to work.
Maggie Bermann, of Newthorpe, has enjoyed exotic holidays and luxury goods
thanks to the huge number of competitions she enters.
This month alone, the passionate 'comper' has won a boxset of the Mummy
films, Girls Aloud T-Shirts, tickets to Legoland, a Barry M make-up set and
a Guitar Hero game for the Nintendo DS.
The former nurse fell and damaged her knee and back while helping injured
people in the panic following the July 2005 attacks.
Since then, she has won more than £100,000 worth of prizes through entering
competitions online and sending off postcards.
She said: "I enter about 1,000 competitions a month. I spend about an hour
and half a day doing it.
"It's fun - it's sort of my hobby.
Maggie, 45, is happy with even the smallest prize.
She said: "I really enjoy it and I'm pleased with anything I win. Even if
it's a fridge magnet I still get excited."
But Maggie said the credit crunch has caused other people to jump on the
freebie bandwagon.
"Since the economic downturn the wins have started to taper off, as more
people are doing it," she said.
Maggie uses the website theprizefinder.com to help her hunt out prizes.
This year the site has seen a 25% jump in the number of people trying their
luck.
But few are likely to be as enthusiastic as Maggie.
Maggie began 'comping' in 2001 but stepped up a gear after she was forced to
leave her job.
Her biggest win was a £50,000 luxury holiday to Dubai and Thailand from the
Radio Times, a competition she entered after husband Jeff said he would like
to visit the Arab state.
She said: "It was out of this world. In Dubai we stayed in the only
seven-star hotel and had a butler."
Maggie has also won a family holiday to Mexico, luxury UK breaks and
top-of-the-range electrical goods.
But her most prized possession, as an avid fan of boy band Blue, is a
platinum disc of band member Simon Webbe's debut solo album.
Maggie regularly meets up with other Notts compers to compare wins.
She said: "We are quite competitive with each other too. If someone else has
won a competition you've entered then you really want to win it as well."
Maggie said the group helps to keep her motivated when she goes through
spells without any wins.
"Even my postman is disappointed if he doesn't have a package for me," she
said.
"When I get one he stays while I open it to see what it is."
But Maggie said the best thing about her competition addiction was being
able to treat her family.
She has two sons, Scott, 21, and Andy, 14, and a daughter, 11-year-old
Heather.
Maggie said: "To me comping means being able to give friends and family
things I could never otherwise afford, as I don't work anymore.#JusticeForGrenfell0
