Air vent on Airing cupboard?

I'm just about to replace some doors, one of which being the door on the landing to the airing cupboard. At the moment it has two vents, one top and one bottom, on the door. Is this a legal requirement to have venting on these doors? Can't say I've seen it before.
Thanks for any help

Do you have the manual for your boiler? It depends on the spec. My old boiler used to need vents, but by new one doesn't. If you don't need vents (many modern boilers don't) then it's safer not to have them.0

I was under the impression vents on airing cupboard doors were more to do with stopping damp than anything else. As they are mostly used for housing towels or hanging wet washing etc, the vents introduced an airflow.
Having said that, I know all the houses round me dont have vents on the doors. I don't on this house, although I did on a previous one. I'm uncertain as to the regulations regarding this but my feeling would be it is not a legal requirement, otherwise all houses would be built with these as standard.Herman - MP for all!

The air vents are there to stop the boiler overheating, nothing else. If your old door has them fitted then I would certainly fit them to the new door. To double check whether your boiler does require the vents fitted you could check the manual if you still have it, if not call the manufacturers and ask them.0

I suspect clarification from the OP as to whether his airing cupboard houses a boiler or not would probably be useful in the first instance.Herman - MP for all!
