I'm sure this was said with tongue in cheek,

    But of course. ;)

You've raised your own kids and now you finally have some time for yourself - why would you want to go though all that again? It's odd how so many come to expect their parents to look after theirs when they decide to go back to work. Your kid, your responsibility.

I wonder how many gran's feel obliged to help? Or how many do help but don't want to go the full 9-5 every weekday?

My mum looks after my nieces and nephews one day a week and has even changed her work hours to do so. She absolutely loves it and NEVER feels like she is being taken advantage of. My sister and brother never asked but she felt it was something she could do to help them out. I think she enjoys it a lot more than she thought she would and she has the most lovely close relationship with her grandchildren which is the reason she really does it.
Each to their own, but I think it is a lovely thing to do to have some 1-1 time with your grandchildren to build a close bond.

That's not what I was getting at though! One day a week isn't taking advantage. As I said, now and again, just not full time.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Adopt a granny and exploit her for free childcare. You can pay her in shortcake and tea.

Hmm Grannys are out of the question, OH's side is well, deceased and well my mum has 11,8, 6 year olds! Does feel a bit weird saying that, big age gap! Ah well

I had looked at childminding, i was just confused as to whether its per hour or minimum amount of hours

Collectively we earn about £33000 and we do get a fair amount of child tax credits when we have a child however by getting the vouchers we would basically be losing money, as in worse off so better to have to the tax credits.

I also need to work out how much to save for kitting out etc!
    Money money money.
