what "sites"
i've been around the internet for many years, and currently have a .co.uk email address, and have no issues at all with it not being accepted..
no need for this to be a sticky at all...
*i am deleting huge stupid graphics with my miiiind!*0 -
I think you must be typing your email address wrong or something. If the email exists, ive NEVER had a problem no matter what it was.:idea:0

I have to agree with the other posters. I tend to enter many online competitions each day which require my email address, which is of the .co.uk variety, and have never had a problem.0

I'll agree with the rest. What sites were these? I've been using .co.uk email addresses to sign up to websites etc for about 15 years now and yet to come across one disallowing them."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Here’s one example
(I’m using this as there are other MSE’RS who’ve experienced the same thing)

Wouldn't let me continue with my .co.uk address, had to change it to my partners .com one for it to go through.

Definitely a first for me and is completely down to them being really rubbish website builders. There's absolutely nothing wrong with .co.uk email addresses and they're as valid as any. Seems like we have some very egocentric web builders who don't realise that there is a world beyond the borders of the USA. It isn't accepting ANY email address except for the main American ones (com, org, net, edu). I'd advise anyone to just get a free googlemail/gmail address if they want to use it. But this is definitely their fault as they've excluded about 99% of possible legitimate email address top level domains and every single other country's domains.
Why not contact them (although even their contact page requires a USA email address ) and ask them why they're not accepting legitimate email addresses?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

yup.. blame the web programmers... maybe they only want to limit being a tester to people based in the US, the majority of which won't have a .co.uk
the simple solution.. register a googlemail account, which will give you a .com. and set that to forward to your co.uk

That was my initial thoughts except even that can't be used as an excuse because it allows you to select which country you're in. So there's not any geographical restriction. I think therefore we can definitely attribute this one down to lack of thought on their behalf."She is quite the oddball.
