    How about...

    HSBC

LTSB [including other LTSB brands - cheques available to use, I think]

any other MBNA cards [will switch a limit from the Virgin card, then SBT for a fee]

Co-op travel [for repeat BTs and purchases, match limits if asked]

Sainsburysbank [and other HBOS issued cards still not charging a fee]

RBS cards [some of which charge fees but by no means all and also offer cheques to use]..

I tend to use this chart when looking for another card, you might find it useful as it lists length and cost of bt, but not limits.

I have always had my highest limits from MBNA and Egg, but others say Capital one, nothing is certain as customer profiling seems to to be more important to the card issuers than numbers these days.

There is a poll on highest limits offered here http://www.stoozing.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1122629809

Interesting thread - seen it before but it's a bit old.

Will MNBA cards really take Virgin limit? I thought you were likely to be refused if you already had an MBNA card.
If that's the case I'd probably do that as Virgin is 20k and finishing in a couple of months.

Not too worried about a fee if it's capped at around £50.

MBNA are certainly less keen on allowing customers to have two cards at the same time and you certainly can not transfer a balance between them. However, if you do have 2 cards and one is expiring, they are usually happy to add the expiring card's credit limit on to your other MBNA card.

You say in your original thread that you bank with Nat West so can't go for that.
Why not? Balance transfers with Nat West are free to existing customers, and being an existing customer it may give you an advantage when asking for a higher credit limit.

Thought existing customers couldn't get the 0% rate?

Odd - I must have just assumed that as 0% deals are usually to attract custom it wouldn't have been available for existing customers.

Can I ask at this point if anyone here has been sucessful in applying for a current account with either NatWest or RBS in order to then apply [and be accepted] for a new credit card carrying no balance transfer fee?

[I think the fee-free BTs must be carried out in the first three months of the period]

    Thanks

It is not available for existing cardholders, but is available for existing current account customers.
