Car dealers giving cheque for part ex?

Ok my situation is that I have my Car on a quite expensive personal loan which I am looking to get out of. I want to replace the Car with something cheaper on a PCP deal but need to be able to pay off the loan, which I will need cash for.

The other day I went to test drive a Car and the dealer, in an attempt to get me to buy a Car from him, offered to give me a cheque for my Car in part exchange rather than just take it off the balance. This surprised me as I didn't think that dealers would do this. Was this just a lucky offer or do you think I may have luck with other dealers?

It will be easier for the dealers paperwork, this way. Buying your car is a totally seperate transaction, from the sale of the new one.

He'll also, possibly, get a bigger commission, on the finance arrangement he sorts for you, on the new one, as it'll be for a higher value, I'd guess!!

Excellent. I don't know why but it hadn't even entered my thoughts that this was an option. I always just thought that you could part ex but they wouldn't give you a cheque, it makes sense that they would really.
