anyone used Itzala for blinds?

has anyone used itzala.com to order blinds? Im after velux blackout blinds.

my only concern is this is a hungarian company promoting products in the UK and denmark with no UK representation.

on the postive side the prices are reasonable nad the selection too.

alternvative can anyone recommend where I can get similar blinds for under £50?

  • I used Itzala to order a Velux branded blind as they were cheaper than anyone else I could find. When it arrived it had a black mark on the blind fabric, which I didn't realise until I had put it up. I couldn't get the mark off so I emailed Itzala a photo and they arranged for a replacement to be sent to me from Velux. I did not have to return the damaged blind & they said I could keep it for spares. As it was over Christmas, the replacement took about 10 days to arrive, but they told me the date to expect it and they were very helpful.
Overall, good customer service, it was just unfortunate the item was damaged. I wasn't sure whether to buy their own brand or not, so I played it safe by sticking to Velux, but their own brand is much cheaper.:p

Based on these posts I went ahead ordering Velux awning blinds from Itzala. 1/3rd cheaper than direct from Velux which, unlike the UK version, has an internally-operated pull-cord; paid with PayPal (nice & easy); both arrived quickly (within a week) and undamaged. Communication good (I didn't need direct comms as no problems) - you get a DHL tracking number. Reassuring to see it travelling from Hungary! Recommended. Sorry if this sounds like an ad for them, but hope this is helpful.

You could try a company called 'Loft Blinds' (sorry can't post links yet! they are at www loftblinds co uk) - similar discounts to Itzala on genuine blinds but from a UK based company...
  • I ordered an Itzala blind for a Velux window. At no stage in the ordering process did the website state that it is an overseas company with no UK representation/address. Due to a very easily-made error I ordered the wrong size blind - my mistake, and I was prepared to pay the postage to return it. I was NOT, however, prepared for that postage to cost £31 - the cheapest postage available for a package of that length to Hungary.

I think the company has an obligation to inform customers on the main website (not just in the very small print in the terms and conditions) that they are dealing with an overseas company. I would not have chosen to buy the blind from them if I had known. Instead of saving money, I have now paid an extra £31 for my small blind. Very fed up

You obviously didn't look very hard then, clarinet01.

Here's the company's Hungarian address details.

There are many websites out there which pretend to be British including the likes of Pixmania. This is not one of them.
  • Based on this post, I ordered 2 blinds for Travis Perkins branded dormer windows which are just rebadged keylite windows. The delivery came within a couple of days and the blinds were in perfect condition. Fitting instructions were slightly misleadng - but nothing to deter all but the most incompetent DIYer.

At less than half the price quoted by keylite, I am delighted with this companies products and service.
  • Dear all,

if you are after blinds i would suggest http://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/ i got wooden blinds made for bathroom and kitchen and later on black out blinds for bedroom. excellent value and very good customer service.
  • Bought an own brand blind from Itzala for my Velux window it comes with fittings/attachments that don't fit my window despite being designed specifically for this window size/type/brand - not impressed! In process of trying to get refund ( if not successful will contact paypal & raise a dispute to get refund - product not as advertised ) Incidentally before i made this purchase i contacted Velux to query if Itzala was any good - they wouldn't comment...
  • I recently bought two Velux blackout blinds from Itzala to replace a pair of ancient Velux blackout blinds where the mechanism had failed and the blinds refused to stay down.

The price was significantly lower than other sources and delivery was faster than promised. They weren't identical to the previous blinds so I had to fix the screws in new positions. Other than that, they seem to be Velux products, were easy to fit, seem to be pretty much the same and are absolutely fine.

I would certainly, unhesitatingly buy from Itzala again.
  • I just bought a Velux Blind from Itzala. When it arrived it was incorrect and now it is going to cost me nearly £20 to return it to Hungary. They recommended that I buy a "supplementary" blind which will cost me another £60 or more. I could have bought the blind that did actually arrive much cheaper elsewhere, contrary to what other people have said, and based in the UK. I prefer to buy from the UK as this is good for OUR economy, especially if the item is cheaper to buy and much much much cheaper to return.
