Housing Benefit Help Please!

Good evening everyone!

I have a query re. Housing Allowance.

My mother is separated - not legally - from my father who lives in Spain. She now lives with me. She is aged 67.

Is there any way that she could claim Housing Allowance and pay this to me? All she currently receives is Basic pension of about £30 per week.

If I turf her out - she will have to get housing from them. So why can I not charge for it and keep her with me?

What are the complexities / chances of this happening please?!

Thanks.

As she is a close relative and living in the same house there is no chance of her receiving Housing Benefit (now Local Housing Allowance) for private lets.
  • She would not be able to get housing benefit but she would get pension credit if her only income is £30 per week.
