Hi
I have an Epson R200 and print a lot of photos but the price of Epson ink is just mad at the moment.
Can anyone recommend compatible cartridges that are anywhere near as good as the originals for colour match and quality as well as longevity?
I realise you get what you pay for, but Epson really are taking the mikey when it is cheaper to buy a new printer than replace your inks...
Many thanks in advance

I too have an Epson (R285) and am pretty miffed at the price of their inks, but it seems I have come across the following who supplied me with a set of cartridges (6) at a third of the price of the Genuine brand and that work!

I use cheapest compatible inks from ebay - typically £5 for a set including postage. However I do use genuine Epson photo paper. My R220 printer seems to to have suffered no ill effects in using non Epson-inks for the past 2-3 years (approx 12 changes of ink sets). Cheers from Mike

I have an epson r220 and have always used compatibles with no ill effects. Go to your local independent computer shop and see what he's got. Buy 1 set and give them a try. I do a lot of photo printing with no noticable difference.0

They are out of stock at the moment but you will not get better value than these....

I was rather hoping someone had already done what I guess I will have to do and buy some of these cheap inks and evaluate them against print outs using the original inks.
Does anyone print black and white with compatible inks and do you suffer from colour casts?
Thanks0 -
Well, based on a statistical sample of one, I get results with compatible inks (various makes/suppliers) that are virtually indistinguishable from the original Epson inks. Occasionally I get a very slight weakening of e.g. yellow colour compared with original but this is normally not noticeable on photo prints.0
